Hamstrings and concussions remain the two most common injuries in the AFL, new data shows.

Hamstring injuries remain the most common ailment in the AFL, with numbers rising slightly last season.

The AFL's annual injury report, based on data from last season, show hamstring injuries account for an average of 20 games missed at each club.

Hamstring strains accounted for an incidence of 4.94 missed matches from new injuries at each club last season, up from 4.86 in 2020.

The AFL's concussion protocols, introduced last season and decreeing a player miss at least one match and not play in a 12-day period after being concussed, resulted in an expected increase in matches missed from 1.30 in 2020 to 3.68 per club last season.

The total injury incidence - the number of new injuries resulting in missed matches per club) was 33.6 last season compared to 33.1 in 2020.
