Hawthorn say 2014 premiership player Will Langford wanted to end his AFL career as a one-club player and his retirement is a mutual decision.

Hawthorn premiership player Will Langford has ended his AFL career after he was delisted.

The Hawks said the midfielder's delisting was a mutual decision.

The son of Hawks great and former AFL commissioner Chris Langford, he played 72 games for the club.

After making his debut in 2013, Langford was a member of their 2014 premiership side.

He only played six senior games this season.

The Hawks said in a statement that rather than try to extend his AFL career elsewhere, Langford had decided to call it quits once he spoke with the club at the end of the season.

"Will made it clear that he wanted to be a one club player and that if he wasn't playing for the Hawks then he would prefer to move on to the next chapter in his life," Hawks football boss Graham Wright said.

"That being the case we reached a mutual decision to delist Will and we wish him all the best in life outside of football."

AFL clubs must finalise their lists by Wednesday and the Western Bulldogs have also confirmed the re-signing of star midfielder Tom Liberatore.

Port Adelaide have re-signed former Melbourne captain Jack Trengove and ex-Gold Coast defender Trent McKenzie.

Fremantle star Michael Walters has also extended his contract by two years, taking him through to 2022.

Meanwhile, Melbourne confirmed they would play two of their home games in the Northern Territory next season.

They will play Adelaide in Darwin in round 11 on June 1, plus West Coast at Alice Springs in round 18 on July 21.
