GWS coach Al McConnell says anything is possible if his winless side triumph in their next four games of the AFLW season.

GWS coach Al McConnell has implored his AFLW side to write their own fairytale as they seek to storm into the finals from a 0-3 start.

The Giants crashed to their third loss of the short season, going down by 29 points to Carlton on Saturday at Sydney's Blacktown Oval.

McConnell knows the finals equation is incredibly tough for the club but has far more interest in "what's going to happen now than what has happened".

"It'd be a fairytale to get a finals berth from this position but fairytales happen," McConnell said.

"In a seven-game season, you can't afford to muck too much up ... (but) if you win four games, then anything is possible.

"That's the message I've told the girls - I'm interested to see what happens between now and Monday and I'm interested to see what they bring (at training) on Monday night.

"There's some things we need to manage so it's not just a fairytale."

McConnell cited his team's turnovers, kicking efficiency and inconsistency as their most-pressing concerns.

McConnell was full of praise for Irishwoman Yvonne Bonner, who snapped a goal-of-the-year contender in the second quarter.

Bonner's effort was remarkable by anybody's standards, let alone a Gaelic footballer who knew very little about the game two months ago and was still learning the intricacies of certain rules.

The 31-year-old hunted down the Sherrin deep in the forward pocket, took possession, brushed would-be tackler Jayde Van Dyk, stepped around her and snapped truly.

"She's pretty amazing for a girl who has played four games of footy now. Three real games and a practice match," McConnell said.
