Aussies crowned World Cup rowing champions

3 minute read

Australia has been crowned World Cup rowing champions after collecting five golds at a regatta in The Netherlands.

Australian rowers have been crowned 2019 World Cup champions after winning five gold medals in another table-topping haul at the third and final event in the Netherlands.

In wet, blustery conditions in Rotterdam, the Australians triumphed in the men's and women's pairs and fours, adding to their lightweight men's sculling gold a day earlier.

They also claimed three silver and one bronze medal in the regatta.

The success came after the Australians had topped the medal table at the second World Cup event in Poznan, Poland in June.

"The performances at the two World Rowing Cups are certainly very positive as we lead into 2019 World Rowing Championships in Austria, which is also the Olympic qualification regatta ," said Rowing Australia's performance director Bernard Savage.
