Geelong coach Chris Scott has attracted some criticism for his post-game comments about Brisbane forward Charlie Cameron.

Geelong coach Chris Scott says he misrepresented himself, rather than disrespected Charlie Cameron.

Scott has revealed he gave the Brisbane forward three votes in the coaches' award after Cameron kicked five goals in their one-point win over the Cats.

It follows post-game comments on Saturday from the Geelong coach that raised eyebrows.

Scott said in Saturday's post-game media conference that he did not think Cameron had a big influence, rather that he took his chances when they presented.

When asked about the controversy on Monday night, Scott acknowledged on AFL360 that he might have come across as abrupt.

"I might have misrepresented my thoughts - it wouldn't be the first time," Scott said.

"I gave him three coaches' votes. I thought he was pretty good.

"If it came across as disrespectful that certainly wasn't my intention. He's a brilliant little player.

"I'm just not convinced that it was disrespectful ... but it (his comments) wasn't coming from a bad place, that's for sure."

Think. Is this a bet you really want to place?
