Adelaide utility Andy Otten has announced his retirement from the AFL.

Otten, 30, overcame two separate knee reconstructions to play 109 AFL games since being drafted by the Crows in 2007.

"It has been one hell of a ride and I say that with a smile on my face, satisfied that I've given all I can to play in the AFL for 12 years," Otten said in a statement on Tuesday.
