Freo sign one Hill but likely lose another

Fremantle veteran Stephen Hill says it was an easy decision to re-sign with the Dockers for a further two AFL seasons but his brother is unlikely to stay.

Fremantle have re-signed AFL veteran Stephen Hill for a further two years but it appears increasingly likely the club will lose his brother Bradley and wingman Ed Langdon.

Stephen Hill was reportedly in the sights of Gold Coast but the unrestricted free agent said it was an easy decision to stay at the Dockers.

Bradley, who still has two more years left on his current contract, is expected to tell Fremantle this week of his desire to return to Victoria.

The 26-year-old former Hawthorn ace has been linked with a move to St Kilda but the Saints will have to satisfy Fremantle's request for a trade to be done.

The Dockers won't let Hill go cheaply given his hot form this season and will demand a first-round draft pick as a starting point.

Hill averaged a career-high 25 disposals this season and was unlucky to miss out on the extended All-Australian squad.

Langdon's path out of Fremantle will be much easier given he is out of contract.

The Victorian has been in career-best form this season and will attract significant interest from a host of Melbourne-based clubs.

It was reported earlier this season Gold Coast were prepared to offer Stephen Hill a three-year deal worth almost $2 million.

Hill managed just three games this season because of ongoing quad injuries - a complaint that also dogged him in 2018 - with the 29-year-old pleased to re-commit himself to the Dockers.

"I feel like we're a young group and I'm excited to be a part of the next couple of years and, hopefully, we can see some success," Hill said.

"I've had a rough couple of seasons with injuries but I'm confident I can get them right and I'm excited to play some footy again.

"I think with time, it (the quad) is going to be better for next year.

"I'm confident I'll get it right and I'll be good to go in 2020."

Fremantle are still without a coach and chief executive after the shock sacking of Ross Lyon and Steve Rosich last week.

Collingwood assistant Justin Longmuir is the frontrunner to be appointed coach but Peter Sumich, Brad Scott, and Michael Voss will be among the others in the mix.

Fremantle (9-13) finished 13th this season to miss the finals for a fourth-straight year.

Think. Is this a bet you really want to place?
