Adelaide Josh Jenkins is set to be traded after the Crows and the forward agreed to explore a move to another AFL club.
Josh Jenkins is set to depart Adelaide after the Crows and the key forward agreed to explore a move in the AFL trade period.
Jenkins fell out of favour this year and the Crows said on Wednesday they would work with him to secure a trade.
"After recent conversations it became clear that it is in the best interests of both parties that Josh looks to reinvigorate his career at another club," said Crows list and strategy manager Justin Reid.
Contracted to the end of 2021, Jenkins confirmed there was mutual agreement for a move, and said he was prepared to take a pay cut to join the right club.
"I am contracted to the Crows, I'm more than willing to continue playing for them if that's what eventuates over the next six to eight weeks," said Jenkins said at the launch of AFL Trade Radio. .
"But I think it's mutually beneficial for both of us - the Crows are looking to move in a different direction and I still feel like I've got more than adequate footy at the level. So that's where we're at."
Jenkins believed the Crows would be trending towards youth after missing the finals in the past two seasons and he likely didn't fit in the picture.
"We've seen us as a club probably don't end up where we thought we would," he added.
"We played in a grand final (2017) and I was a part of that. And that was a great experience, but it hasn't gone the way we'd like since.
"So I guess we're at the point where we don't have a senior coach. And you would imagine that the club's going to look to reinvigorate the list with youth.
"I'm 30 so I guess they perhaps don't see me as a part of that. I feel like I can play good footy at AFL level still, so let's see if we can make that work elsewhere."
Jenkins said he had been thinking about a trade "for a while" and recognised he may have to take a significant pay cut for the right job
"Yeah if that's what it takes to land at the right club - I've got no qualms with that," he said.
"I'm still going to make enough to get by from day to day so I just really want the opportunity to play footy at a good club and a club that values me for what I can bring to the table.
"So we'll see what happens."
