GWS veterans Heath Shaw and Shane Mumford will play on for the 2020 AFL season after signing new one-year deals.

Both men were part of the side who were crushed by Richmond in the grand final.

Defender Shaw has played 308 games over 16 seasons with GWS and Collingwood. He was one of only four Giants to appear this year in all 26 of their matches.

He needs to play just six times next year to beat the Shaw family games record of 313, set by his uncle and 1990 Collingwood premiership captain Tony Shaw.

Ruckman Mumford, who like Shaw is 33, will embark on a 12th season and his second since coming out of retirement.

Mumford struggled at stages during the finals, but was heroic in the closing minutes of their gripping preliminary-final win over Collingwood.

He is set to share the duties in 2020 with former Adelaide ruckman Sam Jacobs, who GWS had acquired during the trading period.

"We didn't hesitate to offer both Heath and Shane new contracts given what they were able to achieve this season," Giants list manager Jason McCartney said.

"We firmly believe they have more quality football in them and are looking forward to the pair of them helping us get to where we want to go as a footy club."

The Giants have delisted former Carlton forward Dylan Buckley after two seasons, playing two senior games in 2018 and none this year.

They are also delisting Tom Sheridan and 2019 debutants, Jake Stein and Zach Sproule, with the intention of re-drafting them in late November.

Former Docker Sheridan played just one senior game in an injury-plagued first season with GWS.

"With the ability to trade draft selections up until November 22 and then again during the draft, the club requires further flexibility around primary list numbers which has seen Tom delisted in this initial list lodgement," McCartney said.

"Tom has a commitment from the club, pending availability, to be re-selected during the draft period."

Key forward Sproule and 2014 Australian Commonwealth Games decathlete and emerging defender Stein have played one and five senior games respectively.
