The Adelaide Crows have appointed former Richmond player Daniel Jackson to the AFL club's newly created position of leadership development manager.

Ex-Richmond player Daniel Jackson has been appointed as the leadership development manager at AFL club Adelaide.

The newly created position was a recommendation of a review into the Crows' football operations after they missed the finals in consecutive seasons following their 2017 grand final loss.

Jackson played 156 AFL games and spent six years in Richmond's leadership group, winning the club's best-and-fairest award in 2013.

Jackson retired after the 2014 season and is a past winner of the AFL's Jim Stynes community leadership award.

He has also run workshops covering a range of areas including managing performance stress at secondary schools in London, Melbourne and Adelaide and had also served as AFL Europe Commissioner.
