Brisbane AFLW coach Craig Starcevich has undergone tests in hospital and will miss Saturday's QClash against Gold Coast at Metricon Stadium.

The Lions said Starcevich fell ill on Friday morning and was admitted to hospital.

Results from a series of tests are yet to be confirmed.

Former Brisbane defender Daniel Merrett will coach the Lions in Starcevich's absence.

The Lions' women's chief executive Breeanna Brock said Starcevich remained in good spirits.

"We are sad Craig is missing out on the game as we know how excited he was for the first QClash but his health is always our main priority," she said.
