ST KILDA V GWS

Friday 18 September @ the Gabba

This match was looked upon by folks as a potential big finals match up but now it appears likely to be one team limping into them and the other a shadow of their former selves.

St Kilda were seen as one of the big improvers by virtue of their recruitment and by making the finals, that simply substantiates that view.

Once you are in anything can happen. However it would be hard to see them doing a Bulldogs path from 2016.

They've lost three of their last four and it could be four of five after this even though scraping in by percentage.

The positives from the West Coast game were that the youngsters like Steele, Clark, Coffield etc stood up and contributed but disappointingly in a big contest, those experienced heads, traded for just this moment, went missing.

The other mob has been nothing short of a rabble since the recommencement. With so much talent and less of an injury toll to last year when they manfully made the Grand Final, GWS has not fulfilled any expectations.

Sure it was a competitive game against the Demons but hey – you're hoping to make finals and play the best. Melbourne has not been that this year as all their supporters would attest.

Made worse that having given away a good start and getting back to square at half time, they hit the front but faded away.

So many big names have had poor years. Not just Coniglio who was dropped but Kelly, Cameron, Himmelberg, Hopper and others have not shown their true worth.

Young Tom Green had a real good crack at the Gabba but he shouldn't have to be the one to make the play.

However this is the very sort of match that could see them go out with a big win just to annoy their fans. They have had their way of late with the Saints and will want to show they aren't weak.

Leon Cameron will not want to limp into next year off such a horrible ending. Having gotten the big contract, he well knows the pressure is on.

Reality says St Kilda wins because they need to enter the finals with the confidence and positivity that brings. But they are only four points back. Their percentage difference of 10.8% is surely too much to turnaround.

However you wouldn't want an early five goal margin to put the fear of whoever into Saints fans. Because at their best GWS are capable of scoring big. The actuality of 2020 is they won't do that.

Not thinking this will be a high scoring match in the end as the Saints will close this up and make it close.

Match Selection: St Kilda by 2 points

Suggested Bets: Total Points Under 118.5 @ $1.90
