Fremantle football operations manager Peter Bell said they won't trade Adam Cerra or Andrew Brayshaw in a bid to land Logan McDonald in the draft.

Fremantle have ruled out the possibility of trading away Adam Cerra or Andrew Brayshaw to land a top-two draft pick, but they've told Connor Blakely he's free to explore his options.

And veteran midfielder David Mundy will be offered a new one-year deal after Jesse Hogan's move to Greater Western Sydney freed up significant salary cap space.

West Australian forward Logan McDonald is tipped to go at pick No.2 in the upcoming national draft.

Fremantle hold pick No.12 but they've been urged to do everything within their powers to grab the second selection from North Melbourne.

Former Collingwood and Adelaide recruiter Matt Rendell sais the Dockers should consider sending Cerra to North Melbourne in a bid to land the prized No.2 pick.

But Fremantle football operations manager Peter Bell has poured cold water on that prospect.

"What we won't be doing is we won't be trading any of our young players," Bell told AFL Trade Radio.

"We see guys like Cerra and Brayshaw and Caleb Serong and Hayden Young as being the cornerstone of our team for the next decade.

"We'll keep workshopping ideas.

"But at this stage our ability to attract a pick that would be in the frame to select someone like Logan, that would be remote I would think."

Bell said discussions had started to extend the contracts of Cerra and Brayshaw, who are signed until the end of next year.

Blakely still has two more years to run on his contract, but his future at the club is unclear.

The 24-year-old is a proven ball winner but he was overtaken in the midfield pecking order by Serong, Cerra, Brayshaw, and even Darcy Tucker this year.

Blakely managed just five games in 2020 and Bell said the 65-gamer was now free to test the market.

"We had a really open and honest conversation, and Connor was clearly frustrated that he didn't get the opportunities in that midfield group that he had done previously," Bell said.

"So, of course with that discussion there came an agreement that if he wanted to have a look around we were more than happy for him to do so.

"We haven't heard anything from Connor or his management at this stage."

Bell confirmed Mundy would be offered a new deal soon.

The extra salary cap space available after Hogan's move to the Giants could also help the Dockers re-sign Brett Bewley and Lachie Schultz.
