Fremantle midfielder Kiara Bowers has put on another clinic to help lift her team to a comfortable AFLW victory over Gold Coast.
Fremantle forward Roxy Roux is set to reap the coffee rewards after nailing a goal-of-the-season contender in her team's 49-point AFLW win over Gold Coast.
The Dockers were held scoreless in the opening term, but Roux ensured their first goal was memorable when she nailed a set-shot banana kick from deep in the right pocket during the second quarter.
The spectacular moment gave the Dockers a much-needed spark, with the home side dominating from that point on to secure a 7.13 (55) to 1.0 (6) win in front of 2410 fans on Saturday.
Roux had little daylight to aim for when she stepped up for her shot, and she celebrated wildly after nailing it.
"They shoot from there every night the last night of training. They have coffee bets on it with the coaches," Fremantle coach Trent Cooper said.
"So (forwards coach) Amy Lavell might be up for a whole coffee machine after that one."
Roux was thrilled to pull off the magical moment.
"I've been practising them actually, so was pretty happy to put it through. To slip it through as easy as I did I think I was more surprised than everyone else," she said.
The result improved Fremantle's record for the season to 4-0, with their winning streak now at 11 games stretching back to last year.
Gold Coast are 0-4 and face a monumental task to get into the finals mix.
Fremantle hard nut Kiara Bowers finished with 17 disposals, five clearances, and a whopping 15 tackles in yet another best afield display, while Gabby O'Sullivan was influential with 16 possessions and two goals.
Gold Coast ruck Lauren Bella tallied 25 hitouts to give her side a chance to even out the clearances, while midfielder Jamie Stanton finished with 17 possessions and seven clearances.
The Dockers thumped Gold Coast 80-10 in last year's semi-final, but the Suns put up stiff resistance early on.
Gold Coast's Leah Kaslar scored the only goal of the term, burning off Evie Gooch and kicking truly from 40m out.
But it was one-way traffic for the rest of the match, with the Suns going scoreless after quarter-time and registering just six more inside 50s for the game.
"They were lazy," Gold Coast coach David Lake said of his team's inability to work both ways after halftime.
"It's not local footy. So if you're not prepared at that level, you're going to find it difficult to play. There was some really crystal clear lessons in that for players who want to play at the level."
