Gold Coast has confirmed young defender Connor Budarick ruptured his ACL in last weekend's AFL win over North Melbourne.

The 19-year-old injured his knee in the final quarter of the 59-point win over the Kangaroos at Metricon Stadium on Saturday.

Scans have confirmed a rupture and the second-year player will undergo surgery in coming days.

The news is less clear on tall forward Sam Day, who was subbed out at halftime with a knee injury of his own.

Day has had his injured knee scanned but the Suns are waiting to consult a specialist before determining the 28-year-old's outlook.

"We'll have a further prognosis on that later in the week," head physiotherapist Lindsay Bull said.

Day will be hoping the injury isn't too serious after missing the entire 2017 campaign with a hip complaint.

Back-up ruckman Zac Smith is also making progress in his recovery from a pre-season PCL injury.

Smith has come out of a knee brace this week and the club says he's set to resume running in the next few days.
