Port Adelaide has decided not to appeal the four-game AFL suspension to ruckman Scott Lycett.

Port hierarchy maintain a three-game ban would have been sufficient for Lycett's sling tackle which concussed Adelaide's Ned McHenry in Saturday night's game.

But after discussing a potential appeal, the Power decided to accept the four-game suspension of their lead ruckman, who was charged with rough conduct..

"Scott pleaded guilty to all elements of the AFL's charge and on that basis, we accept the tribunal's sanction," said Port's football manager Chris Davies said in a statement on Wednesday.

"Unfortunately mistakes can be made in the heat of the moment.

"Scott has privately expressed his remorse to Ned McHenry and has also done so publicly. As a club, we wish Ned well for his recovery."

McHenry will be sidelined for at least the 12-day mandatory period for a concussed player.

The third-placed Power will summon back-up ruck Peter Ladhams for their clash against the second-placed Western Bulldogs on Saturday night and their following fixtures against Collingwood, Fremantle and Geelong.
