Fremantle skipper Nat Fyfe is still waiting to learn whether he needs season-ending shoulder surgery, but the club has received some good news on Alex Pearce and Sean Darcy.

Fyfe dislocated his reconstructed right shoulder during the final quarter of Sunday's AFL loss to Western Bulldogs.

The two-time Brownlow medallist underwent scans on Monday, and the club is still waiting for an assessment from the surgeon.

Fyfe will definitely miss Saturday's clash with Gold Coast in Perth, but he could return after next week's bye if it's deemed surgery isn't needed just yet.

"We'll assess over the next couple of weeks what kind of strength he retains and what his shoulder function is before we make a decision on whether he'll be right to continue playing," Fremantle's general manager of football Peter Bell said.

"If he doesn't recover strength and function, there is the possibility that he'll have to have surgery. Those decisions will be made over the next couple of weeks."

Darcy has been cleared of a hamstring injury and could play against the Suns.

"The scan came back pretty much all clear," Dockers coach Justin Longmuir told Channel 7.

"We just have to work through that and see what it looks like this week. At most he'll miss one game."

Dockers defender Brennan Cox wasn't as lucky, with his hamstring tear so serious it's likely to be season ending.

"It's a high-grade hamstring tendon injury," Bell said.

"He's off to seek specialist opinion. Most likely, he'll have to have some surgery for that injury and the time frame (for recovery) is to be advised."

Pearce, who underwent scans on a wrist injury picked up in the WAFL, has been given the all clear.

Longmuir said forward Matt Taberner, who has missed the past two games with an ankle injury, is a 50-50 chance to take on the Suns.

Mitch Crowden (shoulder) will also need to be assessed this week.

Dockers defender Griffin Logue will miss the Gold Coast match because of concussion.

Forwards Sam Switkowski (hamstring) and Bailey Banfield (ankle) could be available for selection.
