Fremantle ruckman Sean Darcy says it was an easy decision to re-sign with the AFL club until the end of 2024.

Fremantle have ensured Sean Darcy will remain out of the clutches of Geelong until at least the end of 2024 after re-signing the ruckman for a further two years.

Darcy was already contracted until the end of 2022, but rumours had begun to circle that the former Geelong Falcons junior was considering a switch to the Cats.

Those rumours were firmly put to bed on Thursday when Darcy confirmed his contract extension, saying he was always committed to staying at Fremantle.

"I spoke to my parents, spoke to my family, spoke to my friends back home and it was a pretty easy decision," Darcy said.

"I'm really enjoying being over here, I've got a really good support system over here and I call my family whenever I want.

"I feel like the club is going in a really good direction and we have a lot of young people going really well and I'm really close with the majority of them."

Darcy's signature is a massive boost to Fremantle's hopes of building a side capable of competing for premiership success in the near future.

Forwards Josh Treacy and Sam Switkowski also signed two-year extensions this week, tying them to the club until 2023.

And late last year star Victorian midfielder Andrew Brayshaw re-signed with Fremantle until 2025.

But the future of another star Victorian midfielder - Adam Cerra - remains up in the air.

The Dockers have already made Cerra an offer, but the 21-year-old is yet to make a call on his future.

Darcy says he won't be putting pressure on Cerra to re-sign.

"That's not really the relationship I have with Cez," Darcy said.

"He's a really close mate of mine and it's his decision. He's a big boy, he's an adult, it's up to him. I won't get in his ear."

Darcy is enjoying the best season of his career since being drafted with pick No.38 in the 2016 national draft.

The 23-year-old ranks No.4 in the AFL for hitouts (30.2) and No.5 for hitouts to advantage (9.8).

He is averaging a career-high 4.1 clearances per game and has booted eight goals from 12 matches this year.

Darcy says he has worked hard on improving his fitness and is looking forward to testing his progress when he comes up against star Collingwood ruckman Brodie Grundy at Marvel Stadium on Saturday.

"He's one of the best ruckmen in the comp and it's always exciting and nerve-racking going against one of those players," Darcy said.

Think. Is this a bet you really want to place?
