Robert Harvey has opted to go big in his Collingwood coaching debut by handing a recall to American Mason Cox, while Melbourne has made a big selection call of their own by axing out-of-contract forward Sam Weideman.

Cox, who last played in round four, will line up alongside Brody Mihocek and Darcy Cameron in a three-pronged attack against Fremantle on Saturday, with ruckman Brodie Grundy (neck) and vice-captain Taylor Adams (knee) cleared to return.

Defender Darcy Moore (knee) and forward Jordan De Goey (suspended) go out of the side.

The Dockers have been bolstered by the return of five players, with the biggest name of all being two-time Brownlow medallist Nat Fyfe (dislocated shoulder).

Spearhead Matt Taberner, defender Griffin Logue, and forward Sam Switkowski return from injury, while Nathan Wilson is back after serving his one-match ban.

They replace Brett Bewley, Reece Conca, Joel Western, Mitch Crowden and Taylin Duman.

Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin has reacted to the shock loss to Collingwood by dropping Weideman following two consecutive goalless matches.

Demons vice-captain Jack Viney returns for the Saturday night clash with Essendon after nine weeks out with a toe injury, but former Kangaroos spearhead Ben Brown has been overlooked for selection again.

The Bombers welcome back forward Alec Waterman from injury.

Richmond have axed Daniel Rioli and Josh Caddy for Friday night's match against St Kilda at the MCG.

Dion Prestia and debutant Samson Ryan have been named as their replacements.

The Saints welcome back ruckman Rowan Marshall and Daniel McKenzie from injury, while Seb Ross, and Tim Membrey also return after missing the round 13 loss to Adelaide due to family reasons.

The Power were dealt a double blow for Saturday's clash with Sydney in Adelaide when Robbie Gray (knee) and Lachie Jones (hamstring) were ruled out.

Forward Todd Marshall and debutant Dylan Williams have been named as their replacements.

The Swans lost Sam Wicks to suspension and axed Logan McDonald, paving the way for defender Kaiden Brand and forward Errol Gulden to return to the side.

Gold Coast have made three changes for Saturday's encounter against North Melbourne at Blundstone Arena, with captain David Swallow (concussion), midfielder Lachie Weller (hamstring), and forward Chris Burgess (dropped) going out of the side.

Wingman Jeremy Sharp, Ben Ainsworth, and forward Josh Corbett replace them.

The Kangaroos have included Will Phillips and Lachie Young in their 22 in place of Tom Powell (managed) and Bailey Scott (omitted).

West Coast welcome back Luke Shuey, Jeremy McGovern, Tim Kelly and Brad Sheppard from injury for Sunday's crunch clash with the Bulldogs at Optus Stadium.

The Bulldogs have included Josh Schache, Ed Richards, and Riley Garcia in the extended squad, which will be trimmed on Friday.

Forward Aaron Naughton has been named despite his recent rib injury.

Carlton have lost Zac Fisher (ankle) and Marc Pittonet (ankle) to injury for Sunday's encounter with Adelaide at Marvel Stadium, while Luke Parks was dropped.

Lachie Plowman, Marc Murphy, Sam Petrevski-Seton, Josh Honey, Lochie O'Brien, and Matthew Cottrell were included in the extended squad.

Shane Mumford, Brent Daniels, Tanner Bruhn and Lachie Ash have been named in the extended GWS squad for Sunday's match against Hawthorn at the MCG.

The Hawks lost defender Jarman Impey to what could be a season-ending injury suffered at training, with Denver Grainger-Barras confirmed to make his AFL debut.
