Carlton recruit Zac Williams and West Coast's Liam Ryan will miss their respective AFL games against Fremantle and Sydney after accepting one-match suspensions for rough conduct.

Williams was cited for an incident during a melee where he dragged Adelaide's Ben Keays away from other players by the jumper and hauled him over the boundary line, then pushed his head into the ground on the artificial turf near the fence.

AFL match review officer Michael Christian graded the incident as intentional conduct, low impact and high contact.

It is Williams' second suspension this year after he missed round one through a one-game ban for a high hit on St Kilda's Hunter Clark in pre-season.

Keays was one of eight players who accepted fines for their roles in the melee - along with teammates Ned McHenry, Riley Thilthorpe and Darcy Fogarty and Carlton's Lachie Plowman, Liam Stocker, Sam Docherty and Jack Martin.

Docherty also accepted a $1500 fine for striking Thilthorpe.

Ryan's glancing high bump on Jason Johannisen - that saw the Bulldog assessed by medical staff with a sore jaw but cleared of any injury - was classified as careless conduct, medium impact and high contact.

The high-flying goal sneak is a big omission from West Coast's game against Sydney in Geelong.

Brisbane forward Joe Daniher accepted his $1000 fine for staging, while Geelong's Tom Stewart accepted a $1000 fine for wrestling with Charlie Cameron.

Sydney star Lance Franklin (forceful front-on contact) and North Melbourne's Cameron Zurhaar (rough conduct - dangerous tackle) both accepted $2000 fines.

Hawthorn's Jacob Koschitzke accepted a $2000 fine for striking GWS' Jacob Hopper and teammate Jai Newcombe copped his $1000 fine for making careless contact with an umpire.
