SNAPSHOT OF ROUND 18 OF THE AFL SEASON

THEY SAID IT: "Hopefully we make the finals but I reckon if we get there we're going to cause some grief so we'll back ourselves in and see how we go." - Richmond coach Damien Hardwick

STATS THAT MATTER: Six. The number of premiership points which separates seventh-place from 12th spot on the ladder.

PLAYER OF THE ROUND: The stunning season of Port Adelaide vice-captain Ollie Wines continues, collecting 36 disposals in a win over St Kilda. It's the 11th time this season he's had 30 or more touches in a game - his lowest possession tally in a match is 24.

KEY MOMENT: Six of the them: the half-dozen goals from Richmond spearhead Jack Riewoldt. The Tiger star celebrated his 300th AFL match in style, with his heroics inspiring a 20-point victory against Brisbane which revived his club's premiership defence.

TALKING POINT: GWS' game against Sydney was thrown into chaos less than an hour before the bounce when 15 players and staff from across the two clubs were forced into isolation and ruled out of the game. The eight players and staff - including GWS superstar Toby Greene and Sydney gun Callum Mills - attended the Wallabies' Test in Melbourne this week and were in an area of AAMI Park reclassified as a Tier 2 exposure site. Despite the flurry of late changes, the game proceeded.

INJURIES: D Martin (Rich, kidney), L Shuey (West Coast, calf) K McIntosh (Rich, hamstring), D McKenzie (St K, concussion), R Lobb (Frem, ankle), Sean Darcy (Frem, knee), J Thomas (Coll, concussion), J Mahony (North Melb, shoulder), N Murray (Adel, concussion)

WHAT'S NEXT: The game of a round likely to again be reshuffled because of coronavirus outbreaks is a rematch of last year's grand finals, Geelong and Richmond. Other finals-shaping fixtures include Sydney against Fremantle, Essendon versus GWS and West Coast against St Kilda.
