Snapshot for round two of the AFLW season

3 minute read

A look at round two of the AFLW season where Gold Coast ended a losing sequence when they accounted for West Coast.

THEY SAID IT: "I just felt a little sudden tightness ... we will just have a little look at it this week and go from there." Adelaide's dual premiership captain Chelsea Randall faces scan on her hamstring. Randall missed the entire 2021 season after a knee reconstruction.

PLAYER OF THE ROUND: Gold Coast's tall forward Tara Bohanna kicks three goals in the last seven minutes as the Suns snap an 11-game losing streak with a 13-point win against West Coast. Bohanna was a powerhouse with 13 disposals, five marks and four tackles.

STATS THAT MATTER: Four. The number of unbeaten sides after two rounds. Fremantle, Adelaide, Collingwood and Melbourne are off to flyers. And they already boast big percentages - Fremantle (271.4 per cent), the Crows (230.3) and Magpies (217.9) all above 200 per cent.

TALKING POINT: Is it top four and the rest already? It's not just the fact the top-four clubs are undefeated after two rounds in a brief 10-round comp. It's the imposing style - daring attack and highly skilled - being shown by the Pies, Demons, Crows and Dockers which has them touted as early flag favourites.

INJURIES: C Randall (Adel, hamstring) C Gould (Adel, concussion) R Beeson (GWS, ankle) S Chiocci (Cwd, Achilles), E Fowler (Cwd, concussion).

TRIBUNAL WATCH: GWS defender Pepa Randall's behind-play and front-on bump on Fremantle captain Hayley Miller will be scrutinised.

WHAT'S NEXT: Unbeaten Collingwood head down the highway to Geelong to take on the Cats on Friday night while West Coast play Adelaide; Melbourne host St Kilda at Casey Field and Richmond meet the Dockers. There's also a a clash of the Queensland clubs while GWS play North Melbourne.

Think. Is this a bet you really want to place?
