No 99 trauma for Aussie Jess Jonassen

Jess Jonassen says she's relishing a return to the scene of her best - and worst - moment in cricket for the third ODI of the women's Ashes series.

Making her 2015 Test debut, Jonassen was the only player to pass the half-century mark on a tough pitch in Canterbury, leading Australia to victory in the Test to set up an Ashes triumph after two losing series.

Yet her overriding memory is of hearing the ball rattle her stumps following Katherine Brunt's delivery, felling her on 99.

"I'd be lying if I didn't say that I'd been picturing what sort of celebration I'd have done if I actually got bat on that ball and didn't miss that straight one," Jonassen said.

"It sort of feels like a failure in some ways. I think for me the biggest thing was the contribution that it made to the overall team win of that and winning the Ashes over here.

"Knowing how difficult it is at home, to do it abroad was something really special.

"I've got some really good memories in Canterbury and I'm just hoping in this third ODI I can create some more good ones."

After her crucial unbeaten 31 helped Australia home in the second ODI, Jonassen goes back to the St Lawrence Ground full of confidence.

"I think the wickets suit my style of play particularly with the bat ... and forces me to be on the front foot and play straight down the ground," Jonassen said.

Australia goes into the third ODI with a four-point lead after victories in the first two ODIs, and a win at Canterbury would give them the chance to clinch the Ashes in the following Test in Taunton, prior to three Twenty20s.
