THE BIG MOMENTS FROM THE 2019 CRICKET WORLD CUP

BEST GAME: England's final win over New Zealand's wasn't just the best game of this World Cup but probably the best one-day game of all time. The first international match in any men's format to be decided on a boundary countback. From the four overthrows off Ben Stokes' bat in the last over to Martin Guptill falling a metre short, this game had it all.

PLAYER OF THE SERIES: Kane Williamson's bat took New Zealand to the final and eventually within a run of World Cup glory and he was rewarded with player of the tournament. The New Zealand captain finished with 578 runs at 82.57, as he scored double as many runs as any other Black Cap. Mitchell Starc, David Warner, Rohit Sharma and Shakib Al Hasan can all count themselves unlucky not to have claimed the top individual gong.

BEST BOWLING SPELL: Take your pick of any from Mitchell Starc. His effort to run through England's top order at Lord's included an absolute peach to knock over Joe Root before returning for Ben Stokes later in the match. But his 4-2 off 14 balls to finish the West Indies off at Trent Bridge was arguably his best as he showed the first signs of being back to the form that made him a match winner in 2015.

BEST INNINGS: Eoin Morgan's 148 off just 71 balls against Afghanistan was something to behold. He became the first player bring up 100 runs in sixes in a match in one-day history, with his 18 eclipsing the amount England hit in total at the last World Cup. It helped power the hosts to the highest total of the World Cup, with 6-397.

TURNING POINT: Aside from the never-ending list of big moments in the final, England's World Cup fate changed with the wicket of Rishabh Pant against India. With England needing to win to make the finals, Pant was getting going as India needed 10-an-over from the last 11. But when Chris Woakes took a screamer in the deep to dismiss him off Liam Plunkett, India lost their momentum and England were back on the path to the finals.

BEST CATCH: Sheldon Cottrell's one-handed screamer on the boundary to dismiss Steve Smith pips Ben Stokes' overhead effort in the tournament opener. With Smith motoring against the West Indies, Cottrell sprinted around the rope, flung out his left arm and plucked the ball out of the air as it went over the boundary. The quick then had to lob it in the air as he ran over the rope, before returning to the field of play and completing the wicket.
