Ellyse Perry reached her second Test century before falling for 116 as Australia remain in a dominant position at lunch on day two of the women's Ashes Test in Taunton.

The tourists have moved on to 5-341 batting under grey skies with Beth Mooney (7) and Jess Jonassen (4) at the crease.

Perry had played a chanceless innings until her dismissal, punishing bad deliveries before clipping a full toss from Laura Marsh (2-68) straight to England skipper Heather Knight at short midwicket.

Marsh also got the wicket of Rachael Haynes, trapping her lbw for 87 when she was eyeing her first Test century.

Earlier, Sophie Ecclestone dropped a simple chance to catch the Australia vice-captain at square leg when she was on 66.

Despite the welcome breakthroughs in the hour before the interval, England still remain at long odds to secure the needed victory to prevent Australia retaining the Ashes.

Having won the toss and opted to bat on a pitch likely to deteriorate, Australia will hope to post a large total so they won't have to bat again.
