Ellyse Perry has continued to haunt England by removing opener Tammy Beaumont for a duck after Meg Lanning's attacking declaration before lunch on day three of the women's Ashes Test in Taunton.

Beth Mooney's demise on 51 prompted the Australian captain to end England's torment after they laboured for 154.4 overs in the field as Australia amassed 8-420.

Lanning cannily gave the weary England openers three overs to negotiate before lunch on Saturday, time enough for star allrounder Perry - fresh from crafting 116 - to skittle Beaumont after she played down the wrong line.

England will resume at 1-2 with Amy Jones and captain Heather Knight facing a forlorn task given the hosts must win the one-off Test to have any hope of reclaiming the Ashes, and the match ends on Sunday.

Earlier, Mooney reached her maiden half century before noticing Lanning signal for her to up the ante before a declaration, and she promptly top-edged Nat Sciver (1- 44) to Jones, who took a fantastic catch retreating from a floating slip position.

Perry and Rachael Haynes (87) ensured Australia were in a commanding position from the outset while rain on Friday also worked against England.
