Steve Smith has retired hurt after copping a bouncer blow from Jofra Archer to the neck at Lord's.

Smith hit the deck after being floored by a delivery in the 77th over of Australia's first innings of the second Ashes Test.

The batsman, who was also hit on the elbow and forearm during a brutal spell from Archer, eventually got to his feet and was taken from the field after being assessed by the team doctor.
