ENGLAND v AUSTRALIA DAY TWO OF THE FIFTH TEST SNAPSHOT

STATE OF PLAY: England 294 and 0-9 Australia 225 - England lead by 78 runs with 10 wickets in hand.

MAN OF THE DAY: Jofra Archer. In only his fourth Test the talented young quick took his second six-wicket haul as Australia's batting, Steve Smith aside, foundered once again.

KEY MOMENT: Chris Woakes' dismissal of Steve Smith for 80 was the key wicket for England on a day dominated by their bowlers.

STAT OF THE DAY: David Warner's dismissal for five earned him the unenviable record of becoming the first Test opener in history to record eight single figure scores in a series.

QUOTE OF THE DAY: "Us batters haven't given the bowlers enough time to rest unfortunately. In Ashes cricket you have to keep digging deep. We didn't come here to retain the Ashes, we came here to try and win them." Steve Smith offers a rallying cry to Australia's weary bowlers as they prepare for their third successive day in the field on Saturday.
