Defending WBBL champions Brisbane Heat crashed to a convincing loss to Perth Scorchers with Amy Jones and Meg Lanning showing their class in the run-chase.

Perth Scorchers have opened their WBBL account after smashing Brisbane Heat by nine wickets at Allan Border Field.

English import Amy Jones (60 not out) and Australian skipper Meg Lanning (56) were imperious for the visitors who sailed past the Heat's 7-146 with 10 balls to spare.

The Perth opening pair put on 129 for the first wicket before Brisbane finally broke through in the 16th over when Lanning chipped a Georgia Prestwidge leg-cutter to Amelia Kerr at mid-off.

"Jonesy took the pressure off me and we were able to build a really big partnership," Lanning said.

"We feel the depth in our batting is a strong point of ours.

"Having myself, Jonesy and Nat Sciver up to the top, it's pretty powerful."

No.3 Sciver joined player-of-the-match Jones in the centre and finished off proceedings by belting Kerr for successive legside boundaries.

The reigning champs let themselves down by conceding 13 wides after earlier losing 5-26 with the bat, preventing them from posting the type of imposing target that had looked on the cards when Beth Mooney was firing.

Mooney, who crunched a quickfire 67, was well supported by Maddy Green (34) but otherwise saw too many partners depart cheaply at the other end.

Jemma Barsby (2-19), playing against her old side, and Irishwoman Kim Garth (2-25) were the Scorchers' best bowlers.
