Sydney Thunder go top of WBBL ladder

3 minute read

Sydney Thunder have made light work of a middling Hobart Hurricanes total of 148 to jump to the top of the WBBL table.

Rachel Priest has blasted Sydney Thunder to a convincing six-wicket win over the Hobart Hurricanes and to the top of the WBBL ladder.

The veteran New Zealand opener thumped the Hurricanes attack to all corners of Burnie's West Park Oval to make short work of the target of 149, hauled in with 11 deliveries to spare.

Priest set the tone with 50 off 34 balls at the top before veteran Alex Blackwell (26) and teenager Chloe Litchfield (26 not out) finished the job.

The Hurricanes had crawled early and ended with a flurry to post 6-148 in their innings.

The 'Canes were held to 2-40 off their first 10 overs before cracking 108 off the last 10 thanks the brilliance of England skipper Heather Knight (77 of 49 balls) and the power of Chloe Tryon (21 off 12).

Pakistani spinner Nida Dar (2-16) was easily the best bowler for the victorious Thunder.

The Thunder have posted four wins from their six games, with one loss and one no result.
