Defender Louis Fenton's turbulent week has reached another low after being ruled out of Sunday's A-League road match against Melbourne Victory.

The club confirmed right back Fenton would miss Sunday's clash at AAMI Park after picking up a shoulder injury in last week's loss to Melbourne City at the same venue.

Fenton snatched all the headlines after that 3-2 defeat following his expletive-laden post-match television interview, explaining why referee Ben Abraham and VAR official Craig Zetter were wrong to award a handball penalty against him.

Fenton had already picked up his injury by that stage but played out 90 minutes for the fourth time this season, with every match having ended in a one-goal loss.

A bye follows next week for the Kiwi club, allowing coach Ufuk Talay time to assess the 26-year-old's fitness for their following game, at home to Brisbane.

The injury looks set to rule Fenton out of two All Whites friendly internationals in Europe, against Ireland and Lithuania, although no announcement has been made.
