Winless Vics make five Shield changes

3 minute read

The alarm bells are ringing loud at Victoria, with the winless Sheffield Shield champions dropping Travis Dean and Andrew Fekete among five changes.

Winless Sheffield Shield champions Victoria have made five changes for their crucial match against Queensland.

Travis Dean and Andrew Fekete were dropped as Aaron Finch and James Pattinson return for the November 12 game, Victoria's first at the MCG this summer.

Will Sutherland, the son of former Cricket Australia chief executive James Sutherland, could also make his first class debut.

After winning four of the last five Shields, Victoria sit second-last on the ladder with a draw and two losses.

Queensland have a win, a loss and a draw and are one spot above them.

Victoria also have lost coach Andrew McDonald, now the Australian assistant under Justin Langer, and next week will be Lachlan Stevens' first game in charge.

Marcus Harris, Will Pucovski and Nic Maddinson will be with the Australia A team in Perth next week for the game against Pakistan.

At least one of Sutherland and Jake Fraser-McGurk will make his first-class debut and Eamonn Vines also returns to the Victorian 12.
