Opening batsman David Warner's return home to Australia has coincided with a return to scoring runs.

David Warner's life often resembles a soap opera, so it's apt his cricket is a version of home and away.

The Australian opening batsman has averaged below 40 in just one his dozen home Test series.

In 13 away Test series, he's averaged below 40 nine times.

So his return to the runs in Australia shouldn't surprise.

Warner has followed his 154 in the first Test against Pakistan in Brisbane with 166 not out on Friday's opening day of the second Test in Adelaide.

On moving to that score in Adelaide, he's now averaging 320 against Pakistan this series.

Now, in Australia, his Test average is 63.77 with 17 centuries. Abroad, he averages 34.50 with six tons - but Warner couldn't care less about the disparity.

"I don't really take any notice, to be honest," he said.

"A lot of great players in the world haven't really scored that many hundreds away from their countries.

"My job is to try and score as many runs as I can when I'm at home and away.

"You don't really go into those away series thinking that you haven't scored hundreds here or you haven't scored big runs anywhere.

"At the end of the day, you have got to try and do your best for your team. And for me, it's about getting your team off to a good start and trying to wear down the bowlers."

Warner endured a horror Ashes series, averaging 9.50 - the lowest ever by a Test opener from 10 innings.

Since returning, he has amassed 607 runs and been dismissed only twice in six Twenty20 internationals and two Test innings.
