Burns in runs again for Aussie A women

3 minute read

Incumbent allrounder Erin Burns backed up Saturday's century with another 50 as Australia A beat India A by three wickets in a one-day series decider.

Erin Burns has continued her Twenty20 World Cup push with an unbeaten half-century in Australia A's three-wicket win over India A.

Fresh off whacking a 55-ball century in the second one-dayer on Tuesday, Burns this time hit a more composed 53 off 52 balls in the series decider.

Coming to the wicket at 4-82 chasing 178 for victory, Burns saw Australia home with 10.3 overs to spare and win the series 2-1 in Brisbane.

The allrounder has been part of Australia's squad for the past two series, but would likely face pressure from Jess Duffin and Sophie Molineux if the latter is back playing cricket for the World Cup.

Molly Strano's fine summer also continued as she took 3-26 to wear India down in the first innings.

Strano was the leading wicket-taker in the WBBL with 24 for the Melbourne Renegades, and could also make a case for selection in the World Cup squad.

The offspinner hasn't played for Australia since 2017, but has now taken seven wickets at 13.14 in the A series.

The three-match T20 series between the two A-teams will now kick off on Thursday on the Gold Coast.
