Brisbane Heat captain Chris Lynn noticed something he shares with Tom Banton during the English recruit's warm-up innings for Tuesday's Big Bash League opener.

Neither of them are massive fans of running between the wickets.

Banton, 21, will make his Heat debut against Sydney Thunder at the Gabba on Tuesday.

The Englishman comes in after belting 121 off just 40 deliveries in a Brisbane T20 Grade match on the weekend.

The big-hitting innings got the tick of approval from Lynn, who also scored 76 off just 33 deliveries for his club team Toombul.

"It's something that we've got it common," Lynn told AAP from Kayo's BBL Launch.

"We've got him over to obviously open the batting and give the ball a whack."

Banton's flamboyant strokemaking during the 2019 domestic season in England allowed him to rise into his country's T20 squad and become a sought-after commodity for franchises all over the world.

Lynn says Banton's unorthodox shot selection will dovetail nicely with opening partner Max Bryant's more traditional style.

"He is a natural match-winner. He does play unorthodox shots, which is exciting because Maxie Bryant's quite traditional. Hopefully I can chime in at number three," Lynn said.

"We'll soon find out but it's exciting. He's such a young talent and England cricket have got a superstar on their hands."

Tuesday's season opener against the Thunder starts at 6.10pm (1910 AEDT).
