PETER SIDDLE'S INTERNATIONAL CAREER

* Siddle has the 13th most Test wickets by an Australian with 221. He retires seven behind post-World War II allrounder Ray Lindwall. He has the most Test wickets by a Victorian fast bowler, nine ahead of Merv Hughes.

* His opening day spell of the 2010-11 Ashes series is cemented in Australian cricketing folklore. By dismissing Alastair Cook, Matt Prior and Stuart Broad he became the only player to take an international hat-trick on his birthday. His 6-54 that day was also his best performance in a Test innings.

* When Siddle debuted in 2008 in India, few could have predicted he would still be toiling away with precision and accuracy in the 2019 Ashes. The last of his 67 Tests came at the Oval in September as Australia retained the urn in England for the first time in 18 years.

* The 35-year-old's batting improved significantly during his career. He is the only player to top score in both innings of a Test while batting at No.9. Siddle scored the only half-centuries of his career in the fourth Test of Australia's disastrous tour of India in 2013.

* While he's finishing up playing for Australia, he intends to keep going for Victoria and in the BBL. He has a remarkable 603 first-class wickets, with best bowling of 8-54.
