Test paceman Josh Hazlewood will play his first BBL game since 2013-14 for the Sydney Sixers, but captain Moises Henriques will miss Sunday's clash with the Adelaide Strikers in Coffs Harbour.

Hazlewood, who suffered a hamstring injury in the first Test against New Zealand in mid-December, missed the last two Tests in Melbourne and the SCG but is slated to play two games for the Sixers.

Sixers' skipper, allrounder and batting linchpin Henriques left Coffs Harbour and returned to Sydney on Saturday to be with his wife Krista, for the birth of their first child.

"I am extremely nervous, excited, concerned and worried," Henriques said.

"I don't want to miss my child's birth. I don't like the thought of my wife being on her own during the experience of labour so I am in a massive rush to get home."

Daniel Hughes will take over the captaincy with batsman Justin Avendano coming into the squad for Henriques.

The Strikers regained paceman Michael Neser after he was released from the Test squad.

Neser is set to play his first BBl game of the season while legspinner Liam O'Connor has also rejoined the squad.

Both teams are in the top four, with second-placed Sydney on eight points from six games and third-ranked Adelaide seven from five.
