AUSTRALIA v NEW ZEALAND, THIRD TEST, DAY FOUR:

Score: Australia 454 & 2(dec)-217, New Zealand 256 & 136

Result: Australia win by 279 runs

Summary: It was always a matter of when, not if, for Australia as they stalked a 3-0 series victory. New Zealand threatened to push the contest into a fifth day but ultimately fell short. A David Warner century allowed Tim Paine to declare in the post-lunch session then Mitchell Starc, Pat Cummins and Nathan Lyon turned the screws.

Man of the moment: Lyon. The offspinner grabbed 5-50 on day four, completing his most prolific home summer ever.

Key moment: New Zealand allrounder Colin de Grandhomme, having scored freely and quickly in a knock of 52, picked out Joe Burns in the deep while attempting to clear the rope. The needless dismissal in the 42nd over signalled the beginning of the end for the tourists.

Stat of the day: Australia won all five Tests in 2019-20 inside four days. It's the first time in history Australia have done that in a multi-match home summer.

Quote of the day: "He thought he was Buddy Franklin!" Warner was one of many players and pundits to heap praise on James Pattinson, who held a remarkable catch in the deep to dismiss Todd Astle.
