A furious Aaron Finch blew up in Steve Smith's direction after a mix-up cost the Australian captain his wicket in the one-day decider against India.

Finch was run out for 19 as he and Smith ended up at the same end when the former skipper pushed a ball to backward point.

Smith turned and dived to make his ground, leaving Finch stranded and run out by half the pitch to leave Australia at 2-46.

An angry Finch yelled straight in Smith's direction as he walked past him leaving the ground, with Smith appearing to reply "I called no".

Finch turned around again as he walked off the ground, and smashed his bat on his pad with the opener having looked in good touch early.

Smith had put his bat up to say 'no' in the mix-up but advanced a few steps down the wicket after hitting the ball just to the left of Ravindra Jadeja at point.

Smith turned back to his crease but Finch was well committed, and had no chance of returning to his ground at the bowler's end.

It capped off a poor start for the Aussies, who had already lost David Warner for three after batting first in game three.
