Brisbane Heat captain Chris Lynn admits his team faces "naughty-boy" net sessions after their stunning collapse in Sunday's BBL loss to Melbourne Renegades.

Consequences loom for Brisbane Heat's underperforming batsmen after a stunning BBL collapse in Sunday's 44-run loss to Melbourne Renegades.

The Heat flopped from 0-84 to be all out for just 120 in reply to the Renegades' 6-164 at the Gabba, their second horror batting display in three days after being rolled for just 100 by the Adelaide Strikers on Friday.

Losing 10 wickets for 36 runs is the worst 10-wicket collapse in BBL history and drew sharp criticism from the commentary box by ex-Heat skipper Brendon McCullum and former Australian captain Ricky Ponting.

Heat captain Chris Lynn, who described the collapse as "embarrassing" and a "trainwreck", said some tough love is what may be needed ahead of the team's last three games as they try to sneak into the finals.

"At this point of the year you tend to have optional sessions," Lynn told the Seven Network.

"We were looking alright and then all of a sudden we'll probably have guilty sessions, naughty-boy nets and probably running as well."

The loss leaves the Heat sixth on the ladder ahead of Thursday's visit to the Gabba by the Sydney Sixers.

The finals are still a realistic chance for Darren Lehmann's team however, sitting just one point outside the top five.

With Australia star Marnus Labuschagne likely to make his first appearance for the Heat this summer on Thursday, a reversal of form and fortune is still being hoped for.

"We've got lots of good cricketers in our side and if we can win the next few games we're going to be on a roll and in good form to get to the finals hopefully," opener Sam Heazlett, who top-scored with 56 on Sunday, said.

"We can turn it around."
