Score: India (3-289) defeated Australia (9-286) by seven wickets and with 15 balls to spare at M Chinnaswamy Stadium.

Summary: Steve Smith scored his first ODI century in three years but Australia couldn't go with him in the last 10 overs when it mattered most. The Aussies posted 9-286 on a wicket where a score in excess of 300 looked closer to par. In reply India never looked troubled. Rohit Sharma smashed 119, while Virat Kohli also struck 89 to finish the job.

Man of the moment: Sharma just loves playing Australia. He hit his eighth century against the Aussies and blasted six sixes and eight fours as he put the match beyond doubt for India with 119 from 128 balls.

Key moment: Kohli's cracking catch to dismiss Marnus Labuschagne. The Queenslander and Steve Smith had put on 127 for the third wicket when Kohli made his influence known. He dived low to his right to take Labuschagne's cracking cover drive and send him packing for 54, just as Australia looked set to up the ante.

Stat of the day: Australia's loss marks the first time they have dropped a bilateral series in any format since the Border-Gavaskar Trophy in 2018-19.
