Scorchers re-sign Liam Livingstone for BBL

3 minute read

England international Liam Livingstone said it was an easy decision to re-sign with the Perth Scorchers after enjoying his time in the BBL last summer.

The Perth Scorchers have re-signed England opener Liam Livingstone for the upcoming BBL season, and fellow blaster Jason Roy could join him in orange.

Livingstone topped the Scorchers' run-scoring last season, posting 425 runs at an average of 30.35 and strike rate of 142.62.

The 27-year-old formed a dangerous top-order partnership alongside wicketkeeper Josh Inglis, with the pair producing three opening-stands of more than 100 runs over the course of the competition.

A bromance soon developed between the duo and Livingstone said the decision to return to Perth was an easy one.

"I enjoyed opening the batting last year and formed a great partnership with 'Ingo', hopefully we can pick up where we left off and continue to entertain the Perth supporters," Livingstone said.

Scorchers coach Adam Voges confirmed last week the franchise is in talks with World Cup-winning batsman Roy.

The powerful opener starred for England at last year's ODI World Cup, but the Scorchers want to determine how many BBL games Roy would be available for before making a decision.

The 30-year-old has played five Tests, 93 ODIs and 35 T20s for England and his inclusion in the Scorchers squad would provide them with a proven match-winner.
