Brisbane Heat have beaten the Sydney Sixers by three wickets while the Melbourne Stars, the Sydney Thunder and the Adelaide Strikers also recorded WBBL wins.
Brisbane Heat have banked a fourth straight WBBL victory, beating the Sydney Sixers by three wickets as their push for a third straight title gathered momentum.
The new-look Heat, who said goodbye to Beth Mooney (Perth Scorchers), Sammy-Jo Johnson (Sydney Thunder) and captain Kirby Short (retirement) during the off-season, claimed one victory from their opening seven games.
But the defending champions sit second on the table after proving too good at Showground Stadium on Tuesday, hauling in a target of 123 in 17.5 overs as the Sixers slumped to their fifth consecutive defeat.
Laura Kimmince scored 23 in 10 deliveries, easing any nerves in the Heat's dressing room during the chase, while Grace Harris was named player of the match after her haul of 2-13 helped restrict the Sixers to 7-112.
"We've got a bit of momentum now and just have to keep it going," Kimmince said.
Sixers star Ash Gardner missed the game because of the concussion she suffered on Sunday, which suggests she is unlikely to take part in Wednesday's Sydney derby.
"I'm sure they will test her again tomorrow. Hopefully she's good to go, we'd love to have her back," Sixers fast bowler Lauren Cheatle said.
"But she needs to be well first."
Cheatle's first game for the Sixers in 660 days, coming after she recovered from shoulder reconstructions and a bicep operation, provided one highlight for the home side.
The Sixers are sixth on the ladder, with Cheatle upbeat her side will play their best cricket under immense pressure.
"We don't really have a choice any more. To get to the finals we have to win," Cheatle said.
Sydney Thunder snapped their three-game losing streak with an eight-wicket win over Melbourne Renegades on Tuesday night.
England skipper Heather Knight (58 not out) and Australia vice-captain Rachael Haynes (33 not out) shared a 73-run unbeaten stand as the Thunder hauled in a target of 127 in 14.3 overs.
Also on Tuesday, Australia captain Meg Lanning marched table-topping Melbourne Stars to yet another victory.
Lanning's 57 lifted the Stars to a total of 8-149 at Hurstville Oval, where Perth Scorchers finished 8-143 in response.
Adelaide Strikers crushed Hobart Hurricanes by 64 runs in Tuesday's first match at Hurstville Oval, where Madeline Penna's 56 not out proved the difference.
Penna guided Adelaide to 6-141 after they'd slipped to 6-72 in the 14th over.
Hobart crashed to 7-54 and were eventually skittled for 77 in 16.4 overs, with Sarah Coyte snaring 3-10 from three overs.
