AUSTRALIA v INDIA, FIRST TEST, DAY ONE:

Score: India 6-233.

Summary: An enthralling day and night for Test purists, with momentum swinging from Australia to India then back to the hosts. The visitors lost two early wickets, recovered to reach 3-188 but then lost 3-18 in a final hour slump.

Man of the moment: Ajinkya Rahane was the central character in a dramatic late chapter. The Indian vice-captain combined with Virat Kohli to steer the tourists to a commanding 3-188 before he inexplicably ran out his captain and then was dismissed in the late flurry of wickets.

Key moment: Kohli was on 74 and seemingly cruising towards a fourth century in seven Test innings in Adelaide when run out by a Rahane brain-fade. Rahane drove firmly to Pat Cummins at mid-off, called for a run and then changed his mind and abruptly stopped. His skipper was stranded nearly halfway down the pitch.

Stat of the day: Zero. The number of times Kohli has lost a Test after winning the toss. His correct call of the coin in Adelaide follows 21 wins and four draws after winning the toss.

Quote of the day: "It's probably pretty even." Australian paceman Josh Hazlewood succinctly summarises the day's play.

Think. Is this a bet you really want to place?
