AUSTRALIA v INDIA, THIRD TEST, DAY FOUR:

Score: Australia 338 & 6(dec)-312, India 244 & 2-98

Summary: Steve Smith and Marnus Labuschagne's 103-run stand allowed Cameron Green to engage in some declaration batting. Tim Paine ended the innings when Green was dismissed for 84. India lost both openers in an otherwise impressive start to their pursuit of what would be a record-breaking chase of 407.

Man of the moment: Green. There has been a lot to like about how the 21-year-old has taken to Test cricket this summer. The allrounder showed another facet of his batting in his maiden half-century, smacking four sixes and eight fours.

Key moment: Play stopped for more than eight minutes late in the post-lunch session. It came as India complained about alleged abuse directed at Mohammed Siraj from several members of the crowd. Cricket Australia was already investigating alleged racial abuse of India players on day three.

Stat of the day: Smith now sits ninth on Australia's list of Test run-scorers, having helped himself to 7449 runs at 62.07. No batsman above him on that list has a better average.

Quote of the day: "It looks like they are trying to find an excuse not to go to Brisbane ... get on with it, you have signed up for the tour to play the Test matches," Seven commentator Ricky Ponting is sick of speculation that India will refuse to travel north for the series finale.
