Allrounder Cameron Green has now bowled more balls in a series without earning a Test wicket than any other Australian seamer this century.

Cameron Green's long wait for a Test wicket has reached historic levels.

On Sunday at the Gabba the 21-year-old bowled his 241st wicket-less delivery in the Test series against India, more than any other Australian seamer in a series this century.

Approaching tea on day three at the Gabba on Sunday his drought was at 246 balls and counting, the exciting allrounder unable to exploit his height to jag a wicket.

While the monkey remains firmly on Green's back it hasn't stopped him making an impact in the field, finding a surprise home in the relatively unfamiliar position of gully.

The West Australia plucked a sharp, high chance to dismiss Rishabh Pant on Sunday, while he launched low to his left to purse a chance off Virat Kohli's bat on debut in Adelaide.

All up he has four catches, missing a tough chance in the second Test but otherwise making a fist of a fielding position he admitted he'd rarely occupied before this series.

Green has shown his class with the bat too, compiling a classy 47 in the first innings in Brisbane to go with a blazing 84 in the drawn third Test.

Tasked with the assignment of supporting Mitchell Starc, Josh Hazlewood and Pat Cummins, Green is still adjusting to life as Australia's fourth pace option.

But 33 first class wickets at an average of 24.4 suggest the breakthrough can't be far away.
