Fletcher's BBL season over for Stars

3 minute read

Andre Fletcher has been ruled out of the Melbourne Stars' clash with the Perth Scorchers, his last Big Bash game before leaving for a T10 league in Abu Dhabi.

Andre Fletcher's Big Bash stint has been ended even earlier than planned after he was ruled out of the Melbourne Stars' crucial clash with the Perth Scorchers.

The Stars on Friday confirmed Fletcher would not play in his last match before jetting off to the UAE's T10 league, after suffering a quad strain.

It continues a horror run of luck for the Stars with their overseas imports.

They lost Jonny Bairstow before the tournament even began due to English selection, and thought they had South African David Miller before missing out.

Pakistani Dilbar Hussain was injured after the opening weekend and didn't return, while his replacement Haris Rauf later became a surprise Test call up for the country.

Nicholas Pooran - drafted in late after missing out on Miller - could play just six games, while Fletcher also made the call to leave early for the T10 league.

Fletcher made his top score of 89 not out against the Adelaide Strikers, but otherwise scored just 117 runs at 13 in his other 11 innings.

The Stars likely need wins in their last two games against the Scorchers and Sydney Sixers to make the finals.
