Half-centuries from Jordan Silk and Mac Wright have guided Tasmania to a comfortable one-day win over Victoria in Melbourne.

Silk's unbeaten 69 and Wright's 66 helped Tasmania cruise to a six-wicket victory at Junction Oval, where they hauled in a target of 223 in 44.2 overs.

The visitors slipped to 3-90 in the 20th over, losing Caleb Jewell and Jake Doran plus Test skipper Tim Paine, but Silk and Wright steadied in a decisive 126-run stand.

Victoria captain Peter Handscomb scored 95 for Victoria but lacked support as his side crashed to be all out for 222 in 46.2 overs.

Tom Andrews' dismissal of Matt Short ignited a game-changing collapse of 8-61 for the hosts, who were minus suspended opener Marcus Harris and rested paceman James Pattinson.

Andrews' haul of 3-45, which also included the scalps of Handscomb and 18-year-old batsman Jake Fraser-McGurk, earned him man-of-the-match honours.

The domestic one-day competition continues on Thursday, when Queensland host Western Australia at the Gabba.
