Persistent rain has forced play to be abandoned without a ball being bowled on day three of the Sheffield Shield match between Queensland and Victoria.

The Sheffield Shield clash between Queensland and Victoria is almost certain to end in a draw after rain forced play to be abandoned on day three without a single ball bowled.

Umpires made the call on Wednesday morning that no play was possible at Allan Border Field, leaving Victoria stranded on 7-219 in their first innings.

Opener Marcus Harris remains unbeaten on 113 in the only highlight from a match which has been wrecked by wet weather.

Only 76 overs have been possible across the three days, and more rain is forecast for Brisbane on Thursday.

If the match does end in a draw, it'll be Victoria's fifth draw from six matches this summer.

Queensland are pushing to snatch top spot on the ladder from NSW.

If play is possible on day four, the action is scheduled to get under way from 9am local time.

In other news, Queensland's upcoming Shield clash with South Australia from March 23 to 26 has been moved to Allan Border Field from Ian Healy Oval.

The one-day cup match between the Bulls and Redbacks on March 28 is unaffected by the change.
