Matthew Mott, coach of Australia's women's cricket side, has signed a two-year contract extension that will run until September, 2023.

Matthew Mott has signed a two-year contract extension, confirming he will coach Australia at the 2022 women's ODI World Cup and Commonwealth Games.

Mott, who was first appointed by Cricket Australia in 2015, will continue as coach until at least September 2023.

There was no chance of Mott being moved on but the new deal provides CA and Meg Lanning's team some certainty ahead of a busy stretch.

The coming summer, featuring Tests against India and England, will be quickly followed by Australia's bid to regain the one-day World Cup in New Zealand.

Australia will then set their sights on a gold medal in Birmingham, where cricket returns to the Commonwealth Games in the form of a women's T20 competition, before South Africa hosts the next T20 World Cup in 2023.

"I'm absolutely delighted to sign on for an extra two years," Mott said.

"As a team there's a lot of stuff in front of us to be excited about and I'm looking forward to being a part of it.

"Obviously we play India to start off the summer and the Ashes is a massive series for us.

"But the one-day World Cup in March has been a key driver of the team over the past few years after a disappointing result at the 2017 event in England."

CA has also appointed Ben Sawyer as the side's full-time pace bowling mentor.

Sawyer has previously performed the job on a part-time basis.

Sawyer has resigned as Sydney Sixers coach, a post he has held since the advent of the women's Big Bash League, and will also no longer be an assistant coach at NSW.

"We had some incredibly strong candidates apply for the role and it was a tough decision," CA high-performance boss Ben Oliver said.

"But Ben thoroughly deserves the opportunity, having already had such a positive impact in his previous stint with the side.

"He's played a key role in developing what is a world-class bowling group."

Australia's home summer starts with an ODI against India at North Sydney Oval on September 19.
